Freerunner

Run for your Life

This movie was decent. The idea behind it is good; a group of freerunners (those who do freerunning/parkour like this) get captured and must compete in a race before the explosive collar around their necks explode. Sounds pretty cool, right?

It is. But just because you have a cool plot line, doesn't mean that your movie is going to be good overall. The camera movement was very shaky most of the time, which detracted a lot from the awesome freerunning stunts that the characters were pulling.

And let me tell you, those stunts were pretty amazing. I have always been entranced by free runners, but because of the shaky camera work, I couldn't really enjoy it. Even the long intro credits had that shaky effect. So, if you get queasy or motion sick easily, this may not be for you.
The acting wasn't really anything to shake a stick at, but what can you really expect in a movie that was direct-to-video? If you are looking for just a small movie to kill time with, this one is a decent choice. The main actor in this movie, Sean Faris, is another Tom Cruise lookalike (This is the second movie I've reviewed with one of those. For the first, go here.), so if you like Tom Cruise or just people who look like him, it wouldn't hurt to take a look at this.
Freerunner gets 6/10 stars from me

After thinking about it, I decided to give this movie a 6 star rating. It wasn't meant for the big screen, so I can't really knock the acting too much, but the camera work really hurts it. Another thing that does is that everytime one of the people who is betting on the runners says something, they all have to say something in turn, and that gets pretty old. So, like I said, if you just want a movie to kill time, or are looking for something a bit different, take a look at Freerunner (it's on Netflix).
