The Guineas Show

Follow the animated web series of Americas favorite dysfunctional immigrant family on THE GUINEAS SHOW as their pizzeria business caters to the antics of the biggest celebrities and egos in Hollywood!

Just recently, I got an email from Raymond St. Claire from It's a Human Media Productions. He told me about this little show called The Guineas. So, I decided to take a look and here we are.

The series which just finished its' first season on the 15th of May, is about the Guinea family. The Guineas are from Italy and have a pizzeria in Hollywood, where a lot of the action happens.

The show was initially supposed to be an actual live-action TV show. Its' current animated format was intended to be a storyboard to give people an idea of what the show could be. Well, people liked it so much that it just sorta stuck.
As far as the actual story goes, we follow the hijinks as Sal Sr. runs for President and all the craziness that comes along with that. While he is gone on the "champagne*" trail, his family takes care of the pizzeria. How easy is that? Unfortunately for them, the 'manager' apparently has it out for them, as it ends up being anything but easy.

In regards to the story overall, I don't feel that there was any real back story. You are just thrown in and Sal is immediately running for President without any explanation why. Thankfully, this is really the only bad side of the story.

That being said, there is a point I want to bring up. While your initial reaction to the animation is that it is (very slightly) similar to South Park, a closer look reveals that the only thing of the characters that ever moves is their faces. They are always in the same positions**. Their clothes may change, but throughout the entire season, their bodies do not.

To make up for the somewhat disappointing animation, interspersed throughout each episode are celebrity appearances, a la Robot Chicken. However, instead of being impersonated voices, they are voiced by sound bytes of their actual voices. While this makes for some strange conversations due to repeating lines, it does add a certain something to the show.

7.5/10 stars for the Guinea family

After careful deliberation, I decided that The Guineas Show should get 7.5 stars. This is mainly due to the lack of a back story aside from the intro to each episode and the lack of animation. Regardless, you should still take a gander at it, and see what you think for yourself. You can access the show itself at Blip.tv. *Sal Sr. frequently gets words wrong
due to him not being from America originally.
**And yes, I do know that it was meant
to be an animated storyboard, but still.
