Something is Inside Her
OK, today's review will be on a movie that came out in early 2011 titled Lovely Molly. I had never even heard of the film before last week when there was a trailer on TV for it one night. My fiancée, being from a family that loves horror movies, decided we should watch it with her parents. So we did.
Before I get into the review, I think I should step back and give you a broad overview of the film, so you really know what it's about. And to provide that to you, here is the plot summary taken from the IMDB page for the film:
Generally speaking, I'm not usually a fan of horror movies. Granted, there are a few that I do like. This one however, is not one of them. I'm not saying that because of my dislike for the genre, but because I truly feel that it was not that great.
The plot overall wasn't that unique in my opinion, and the characters weren't really that memorable. The plot was essentially a rehashing of so many other movies that it's not even funny. It's essentially follows this basic formula;
Before I get into the review, I think I should step back and give you a broad overview of the film, so you really know what it's about. And to provide that to you, here is the plot summary taken from the IMDB page for the film:
This film is about Molly and her new husband Tim. They've moved in to Molly's deceased parents house out in the country. But not long after they move in Molly starts getting haunted by forgotten memories, or so she thought. Her husband Tim is a truck driver and while he's away she starts seeing things and hearing things that she can't explain. She slips back in to old habits, involving drugs. Her sister Hannah gets worried about Molly, as is her Pastor, and her boss notices something is up too. But there is more to what is happening than most people know. It all comes out in the most horrific way, and not everyone is safe. Written by Michael Hallows EveThe film starts out in typical (nowadays anyway) horror movie fashion with some found-footage of the main character Molly, who is obviously distressed about something. After that, we see some more footage of Molly and her husbands wedding. Following that, we go to some normal (not found) footage of them moving into their house. Throughout the movie, there are a few areas that are shown through the shaky video camera view.

The plot overall wasn't that unique in my opinion, and the characters weren't really that memorable. The plot was essentially a rehashing of so many other movies that it's not even funny. It's essentially follows this basic formula;
- Family moves into house
- Strange things start to happen
- Someone in said family doesn't believe that anything is happening to affected member of family
- Continuance of strange occurrences
- Affected person does some disturbing things
- Cliffhanger ending.
In fact, it follows this formula so closely that it bears an uncanny resemblance to some other recently released horror movies, although I won't name any titles. On top of this, there is really nothing about the characters that make them stand out from the generic haunting movie characters.
Another couple things that make this movie fail in my book are the cliffhanger of an ending, and the constant subsonic frequencies used right before/as something paranormal happens. The movie seriously left me with more questions at the end of the movie than answers. Couple that with the approximately 15kHz (typical human hearing cuts out around 20khz) frequency used around the time that a paranormal event was to occur, and this movie left me confused and with a serious headache.

| Lovely Molly wasn't so Lovely |
So, in conclusion, Lovely Molly gets 4 stars from The Review. Overall, the movie was just confusing as all get out, and I'm still trying to figure out what the deal was with all the pictures of horses scattered throughout the film. On the up side, I finally got rid of the headache that I got from the movie. This is an ok movie to watch if you have nothing better to do and just want to get a few jumps. If that is the case, then you can get it on DVD from Netflix or on Amazon Instant Video (link below). Just be warned, you may get confused and you will most likely end up with a headache.
