Here we go again!
For our next foray into the mobile games market, today I will be talking a bit about Extreme Roadtrip 2, by Roofdog Games.
In a nutshell, the game has you in a car, with the gas pedal stuck to the floor, heading cross-country. While this may not sound all that interesting on its own, there are mines all over the road and it is EXTREMELY hilly. On top of that, there are different goals that you can meet, which helps you to get better cars quicker. The better your car, the farther you are able to go. And the farther you go, the quicker you can get that next car.
Another cool addition to the sequel that the original didn't have are the ghosts. No, not the white sheet ghosts that jump out and you and yell, "Boo!" These are ghosts of your previous best times that you get to race against. And if you connect your mobile game with your Facebook account, you can even race against your friends' best times. While I haven't had the pleasure of completely smoking my friends in a race, this definitely adds the ability to continuously '1-up' your friends.
The controls are simple, and they carry over from platform to platform. There are only two controls: rotate your car clockwise (front of the car down) or counterclockwise (front of the car up). On Android and iOS, this is accomplished by pressing on the side of the screen that you want to rotate the car towards. On the browser version, you press the left arrow (←) to rotate counterclockwise and the right arrow (→) to rotate the car clockwise.
However, your progress does not carry over to other platforms. So, if you just so happen to have an Android phone/tablet and an iOS phone/tablet and you want to go from one to the other, you will have to start over from the beginning. While this isn't a huge deal, I could see it getting slightly annoying.

| ERT:2 gets 9½ stars |
Overall, the game only loses half a star. This is due to the fact that it isn't cross-platform compatible. But, that doesn't affect the overall gameplay at all. If you would like to try this awesome game out for yourself, you can play online at ExtremeRoadTrip2.com or you can download it for free from the iTunes Store or the Google Play Store. Keep in mind that the browser-based version requires the download of the free Unity Player.
