Live. Die. Repeat.
Have you ever done something, had it turn out badly, then wish you could do it all over again? That's kinda the premise behind Edge of Tomorrow.
In the nearish future, humans are fighting a war against aliens. Sounds familiar, right? What if I told you that these aliens had the ability to alter time if things didn't go their way? No so familiar now, is it?
How are we supposed to beat something that just resets the day if they start to lose? Well, you just have to start resetting the day yourself. Bill Cage (Cruise) is essentially the only one who knows this, but he didn't always. Let's just say the Mimics and their time-warping powers sort of rub off on him.
Edge of Tomorrow has a pretty unique storyline. OK, yes, it is slightly reminiscent of a certain movie named after a certain day with a certain animal with a certain news reporter whose day always resets, but this is war, man! It's almost completely different! OK, it's a lot different. And to think, it's all based on a Japanese sci-fi novel and manga (comic book for us Americans).
In addition to the story being quite unique, the characters are nicely written too. Tom Cruise and Emily Blunt really compliment each other well and they really pull you into the story. And while we're on the subject of the story, due to its nature, it leaves the movie open for a rewatch or two. You really end up wanting to watch anything that's different than the previous run-through.
However, the ending leaves a bit to be desired. I'm not going to spoil it for those who have yet to see the movie, but it doesn't really mesh with how everything else up to that point did. I have a theory on how it worked (and one of ScreenRant's theories matches up with that), but like I said, I don't want to spoil this one for you.

All in all, Edge of Tomorrow was a decent movie (and one my wife wanted to see too!). If you don't get dragged too much into the logistics of time travel and how things may happen and just let yourself enjoy it, I think you'll like it. Oh, but see it in 2D, the 3D sucked.
