We Are Infinite.
High school. That sacred institution that kids either dread or love. For some of those kids that dread it, they are definitely wallflowers. Shy, feeling excluded, but seeing everything and understanding it all.
In the movie (and the book as well), The Perks of being a Wallflower, Charlie is one such person. Suffering from depression and some mental illness, Charlie (Percy Jackson's Logan Lerman) heads into high school with trepidation. Friends he knew before barely acknowledge him, but there is some hope.
Charlie soon makes friends with a pair of seniors (The Flash's Ezra Miller & Harry Potter's Emma Watson) and their friends. Throughout the year, the group has its ups and downs, though let's be honest, what high school group doesn't? And through it all, Charlie works to find himself.
Let me start by saying that this movie was awesome. The actors chosen for the main roles fit said roles perfectly. They make you believe that they are going through the struggles of your typical atypical high school students and make you really feel for them. I do wish that the characters were a little more fleshed out with some more backstory, but overall, they are great.
The story itself is not only believable, but also in many ways true. While the odds of a group of friends having the exact circumstances of this group are slim, the general feel of it all is very true. High school was the time that, for a lot of us, was filled with many of the same emotions conveyed in the movie: fear, love, nervousness, & happiness. This movie captures them all.
While the rewatchability in the standard sense isn't overly high, there are things that you could miss through a single watching. Would I watch it again? Hell yes. Do I think you should? That's really up to you, but if you enjoyed the movie the first time, I see no real reason not to watch it at least a second time.

Perks gets a respectable 8½ star rating |
In all honesty, this was a great movie. It had a few sad points, but if you don't have some sad to balance out the happy, there is no real point to it all. If you have enjoy a good coming of age tale, I'd recommend you take a look at this movie. I personally will be checking out the book now since I haven't read it yet.
