The Vow

Can a once-in-a-lifetime love have a second chance?

The Vow is one of those movies that works on so many levels that you just have to see it. It is based on true events, which makes it amazing in it's own right. It has two highly attractive actors (Tatum and McAdams), which makes it appeal to most everyone. And, it's a timeless love story, which speaks to the romantic in us all.

The movie starts off in the past (but only ever so slightly) with Paige and Leo leaving a show in the snow. They stop at a stop sign to, *ahem, you know, and are rear-ended by a large truck, propelling Paige through the windshield of the small car they are in.

Then, we really go to the past, with a jump to 4 Years Ago. We find out how the two lovebirds met and are shown the quirks of each person and what makes them desirable to the other. We get to see their wedding at the Art Center in Chicago, Paige's artwork (she's a sculptor), and some of the pairs favorite places to go.

Back to present time, Paige is still in the hospital recovering, and we find out she has no memory of the past 5 years, no memory at all of her husband. We are finally introduced to Paige's parents (Sam Neill and Jessica Lange), who decide that, against what the doctors say, they want Paige to come back to them, even though she hadn't spoken to them in almost 5 years.

Without giving too much away, the rest of the movie revolves around Leo trying to jog Paige's memory of him in any way he can, all whilst trying to keep her from remembering why she hasn't spoken to her parents in so long. He takes her to the same places that they always went to, tries to get her to sculpt again, and just generally shows how romantic he really is. She never does regain her memory, but the movie ends with Paige and Leo starting to make brand new memories.

Right before the credits, we are shown a picture of the people who inspired this lovable movie. We find out that they eventually had two kids, and get confirmation that she never regained her memory.
The Vow gets 9 stars

I'm giving The Vow 9 stars. It is a great movie to see with your significant other, which is exactly what I did (Love you always, babe!). The only reason it loses a half star is because it is really sad. There were a few times I started to tear up, which is just crazy.
