INSPECT THE UNINSPECTED!
Those of you who watch Community should recognize the face to the left of this text. If you don't, or you don't watch Community (like myself, though that may soon change), I will tell you who that man is. He is Inspector Spacetime, a space traveler who also travels through time. If that sounds like Doctor Who, I'll let you in on a little secret: Inspector Spacetime is a parody of Doctor Who that appears on Community.
However, this review is not about Inspector Spacetime, at least not really. This review is about Untitled Web Series About A Space Traveler Who Can Also Travel Through Time (UWSAASTWCATTT for short), which is a parody of the parody of Doctor Who. Are you confused yet? If you are, don't worry, I'd be a bit worried if you weren't confused about it. Travis Richey, the guy who plays The Inspector on the show on Community, decided he wanted to make an actual web series out of it.
So, he started raising money on Kickstarter (an awesome tool if you ask me) to make his dream a reality. Suffice to say, the people in charge of Community didn't like that for some reason, so Travis renamed Inspector Spacetime into UWSAASTWCATTT and started filming. On top of that, fans of the project created an entire history of this show all the way back to 1962 (around the same time that Doctor Who started). That pretty much covers the backstory for the series.
As far as the actual web series goes, it's pretty good. It consists of 6 five(ish) minute long episodes that covers a small storyline on New Old Earth 7. I'm not going to go into the whole shpiel about that, so you are going to have to watch the first episode to get that reference. Interspersed through each episode are clever nods to Doctor Who, from Circuit-Chaps (Cybermen) to The Inspector's optic pocketknife (sonic screwdriver).
However, I believe that each episode is really too short to really be good. And on top of that, they each leave you hanging at the end. And they never answer the questions that they leave you with. Granted, that's another nod to Doctor Who, but still, I'd prefer to just watch all 6 episodes together as a nice big half-hour(ish) long episode. At least then I'd only have one big cliffhanger at the end. That's right, even the final episode had a cliffhanger, leaving you ready for Season 2, whenever it gets filmed and uploaded.
Overall, I would recommend that you watch all of the episodes one after the other as opposed to watching 1 a week like I did. This is mainly due to the large amount of cliffhangers. If you watch the episodes all together and ignore the credits and 'previews' of the next episode, that essentially eliminates all the cliffhangers and makes it much more enjoyable to watch. Even still, it is still a series I would recommend to any Doctor Who fan, or to anyone who likes to have a good laugh. You can check the series out for yourself over on YouTube. Look forward to a new review soon: Same Space Channel. Same... Space Time.
