Super Dinosaur #1

Sorry I'm late to the party─ But, good news─ I BROUGHT MISSILES!

What if I told you about a future where the Earth has an inner Earth (as in, our planet is hollow, and there is another planet inside) and where dinosaurs still roamed the planet, essentially fighting crime? That's the basic premise of Super Dinosaur, a series of comics from none other than Robert Kirkman, the mind behind The Walking Dead.

Let me just start off by saying that this comic book grabbed my interest immediately. I mean, who wouldn't get excited about a book that has a T-Rex using a robotic suit with a big freaking gun and missiles on it? That alone makes it worth a read in my book.

However, the story itself is pretty generic. On the side of good, you have Doctor Dynamo, his son Derek and Super Dinosaur, and on the bad guys side of things, you have Max Maximus and his Dino-men (as far as I can tell, a cross between dino and human DNA). They wage war over a newly discovered mineral called Dynore or Maxinite, depending on who is talking about it. Seems like pretty standard stuff for a comic series.

The characters really are what make the book stand out for me, if you can stand the somewhat cheesy names. Doctor Dexter Dynamo and Max Maximus? What's next, Scott Supreme? All joking aside, the characters are well written and fit the story well.

8 stars ain't too shabby

Due to the pretty generic plot, Super Dinosaur gets 8 stars. The characters are well written and it definitely grabs your attention. And the fact that it was written by the guy who brought us The Walking Dead makes it that much better. And the best part is that it's free on Google Play, giving you no reason why you can't read it.
