In the year 2010, computers are the new superpowers. Those who control them control the world. To enforce the Net Laws, Congress creates the ultimate computer security agency within the FBI: the Net Force.
A Union Jack appearing on computer screens all over the world is just a harbinger of the danger to come. As cyberspace is thrown into chaos, several computer experts suffer strokes while hunting the deadly hacker in virtual reality. One of them is the Net Force's own Jay Gridley. And now the Net Force operatives must track down a man capable of cracking every computer code in the world─and pitting nation against nation...
When I was in middle school and high school, I really liked Tom Clancy books. To this day, I still have this fantasy of writing a novel inspired by his work, I even had started it at one point. Alas, a novelist, I am not (yet). And the book that got me started into his universe? A tattered copy of Net Force: Night Moves, which was published back in 2000.
It has a great blend of action, drama, scifi and even a bit of romance. While the story could survive with any combination of the 4 genres listed (ok, maybe not without the scifi or action), it is this combination that makes NF:NM what it is. Each aspect of it contributes a great deal to the overall storyline.
For those who don't know, Tom Clancy was big on series, and Net Force was no different. Night Moves was just part 3 of a 10 book run, which also included a mini-series on ABC. While the series didn't tie into the larger Jack Ryan universe (of which several movies have been made), it is no less of a story because of it.

| A near perfect 9 stars |
My only complaint, if I can even call it that, is that the book doesn't stand on its own as well as I would have liked. It makes a lot more sense if you read the prior two books. However, it does work as a standalone more or less, so I am only docking one star from Mr. Clancy's work. Which means that NF:NM gets a whopping 9 star rating! If you would like to check this book out for yourself, you can get it on both Amazon and Google Play.
