Meet the little voices inside your head.
Have you ever thought about your emotions? Like really thought about them? How does your brain decide which emotion gets assigned for different situations? Disney & Pixar's new movie, Inside Out, aims to give you an inside look into that very thing.
The story follows 5 emotions (Joy, Sadness, Disgust, Anger and Fear) as they help their girl Riley through the day to day grind. Well, the normal changes when Riley's family moves across the country and causes mayhem for the emotions.
The story is a fairly simple one. But the way it is presented is brilliant. And what can you really expect from Pixar or Disney? They both consistently produce great stories, and never fail to amaze in their execution.
The characters are nicely presented as well. The way that the five emotions we see operate in their day-to-day really turns Riley into a relatable person. Granted, the way everything works in her head is entirely fictional, but that's all part of the charm of the movie.
Like all Pixar movies (and a fair number of the Disney ones as well), there are an abundant amount of Easter eggs in Inside Out. Whether it be the Pizza Planet truck (it's there, just hard to find), the Luxo ball, or even room A113, there's a lot to look out for. Because of this, it's worth two watches, at the very least: one to see the story, the others to catch all the references.
And last but definitely not least, Inside Out is very much a movie that tugs on your heartstrings. There are happy moments and sad moments, including some that would move any sane person to tears (myself included). Of course, this all makes perfect sense considering it's a movie about emotions and the role they have in our daily lives.

Inside Out: 9/10 stars |
Overall, the movie was really good. My only real complaint were a few minor inconsistencies which were maybe not as obvious unless you were really looking for them. Inside Out is a good movie for pretty much anyone to see. Yes, it's aimed at kids, but like many children's movies and shows today, there is plenty there for adults to enjoy as well. It is definitely worth it to see in theatres, so see it there if you can.
